Netflix Robbed: Thieves Heist $500k From ‘lupin,’ ‘the Crown’ Sets

In the last week, Netflix’s productions for Lupin and The Crown have been extremely swiped.

A real-life heist is being experienced by the streaming giant.

According to previous reports, the production-based in Northern England for The Crown was robbed and props of nearly $200,000 were swiped on February 24, 2022.

Several production vehicles were barged in along with the purported robbery of over 350 items. A number of the items were luxurious props that are utilized for the decoration of the well-known British royal family period drama, like a replica Fabergé egg and gold and silver candelabras. 

The Crown is the hit historical drama about the reign of Queen Elizabeth II that is created by Peter Morgan.

In a statement, a spokesman for Netflix said “We can confirm the antiques have been stolen and we hope that they are found and returned safely,” adding further “Replacements will be sourced, there is no expectation that filming will be held up.”

Equipment Worth $330,000 Robbed on Paris-based Lupin Set

A representative for Netflix confirmed an AFP report yesterday morning, that its set that is based in Paris for Lupin had also been robbed. It was reported by the news agency that roughly twenty robbers covering their faces entered the set on February 25, 2022, carried out fireworks, and swiped equipment for nearly $330,000.

The mysterious series is a heist drama in which Omar Sy plays the role of a master thief named Assane Diop. Purportedly, when the set was robbed, Sy was present on set.

In a statement, Netflix noted, “There was an incident on 25th February whilst filming the upcoming season of Lupin. Our cast and crew are safe and there were no injuries.” The third installment of the crime drama has since recommenced filming.

Investigations are undergoing for both the incidents and it is not clear yet whether there is any link between the two thefts.
