Michael Elliot Epps whose celebrated name is Mike Epps, is a stand-up comedian, writer, actor, rapper, and producer also. We can call him immensely talented given his skills in so many fields.
He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on November 18, 1970, and is the only child of Mary Reed and Tommie Epps. When he grew up, he relocated to Brooklyn in 1994 to star in Def Comedy Jam.

In June 2019, Epps got married to Kyra Robinson in Newport Beach, California, the executive of OWN Network and producer of Iyanla: Fix My Life. In July 2006, the actor-comedian had married Mechelle McCain but the couple got separated in September 2017.
There were rumors that Epps is related to fellow actor Omar Epps which he declined in 2019 in GQ Interview saying that “Are Mike Epps and Omar Epps related? No, I think we got the same master, though.”
Career Details
IN 1995, Epps started his career with the Def Comedy Jam tour and appeared in two Def Comedy Jam broadcasts.
In 1997, he debuted in the film that was the directorial debut of Vin Diesel titled “Strays”, he was later seen in the follow-up “Next Friday”. The role came to Epps after Ice Cube himself went to attend a stand-up set Epps did, following which he asked Epps to give that role of Day-Day Jones a try.
In 2001 Dr. Dolittle 2, joined the voice cast of the comedy film for the character of Sonny the Bear and ended the year by joining the cast of How High. Epps again teamed up with Ice Cube in 2002 for All About the Benjamins and reunited with Ice Cube for the second sequel of Friday, titled Friday After Next.
In 2008 Open Season 2, Epps voiced the character of Bear name Boog following the role was refused by Martin Lawrence.
Epps released a stand-up comedy special titled Under Rated & Never Faded in 2010 and the 2010 BET Hip Hop Awards was also hosted by him.
In the 2012 Sparkle remake, he was cast along with Whitney Houston and Jordin Sparks, in which his performance gathered praises and positive reviews from critics as well as viewers. In 2016, Epps played the character of Pryor in Nina Simone’s biopic Nina and he is also supposed to portray the character in the HBO drama series about the L. A. Lakers.
Epps also starred in the horror movie Meet the Blacks in 2016 and also in its follow-up titled The House Next Door: Meet the Blacks 2.
Epps has been one of the lead casts of the Netflix series The Upshaws since 2021.

He signed local artist Philthyphil in 2006, that artist had just been discharged from Jain following serving imprisonment of three years under a drug case in which the artist was the accused distributor of major amounts of drugs.
In 2007, Phillip “Philthyphil” White was charged with first-degree murder in Oakland, CA following which the deal was canceled.
