Kevin Hart is an American stand-up comedian and actor who was born as Kevin Darnell Hart in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on July 6, 1979, and he is the son of Henry Witherspoon and Nancy Hart.

His mother has raised him as a single parent and was working as a systems analyst for the Office of Student Registration and Financial Services at the University of Pennsylvania.

Kevin Hart’s father “Henry Witherspoon” was a cocaine addict who was in and out of prison across the maximum of Kevin’s childhood. He uses the surname of his mother and also has one elder brother whose name is Robert.

He completed his high school at George Washington High School and went to attend the Community College of Philadelphia, but soon he dropped his studies and relocated to New York City. After some time, he shifted to Brockton, Massachusetts, where he started working as a shoe salesman. 

His bond with his father began to improve following when the latter got rid of his drug addiction. “My dad said I was supposed to be on drugs. I was like, ‘Dad, shut up, but then I thought about it, and it was stupid, but it made sense. He was saying that basically, he was my example to never go down that road,” Hart said.

His mother passed away in 2007 due to cancer.

In February 2010, he filed for divorce with his wife Torrei Hart with whom he has two kids, one daughter named Heaven Leigh and a son Hendrix and he also got joint custody of his kids. In November 2011, their divorce was confirmed.

The actor-comedian proposed to Eniko Parrish on August 18, 2014, and after about two years, on August 13, 2016, the duo got married. They welcomed their first child on November 21, 2017, and within a month of the birth of their son, he confessed in public that when his wife was pregnant, he cheated on her.

On September 29, 2020, the couple had their second child, they welcomed their daughter on September 29, 2020.

On August 5, 2013, he was sent for probation of three years following his pleaded no contest to a count of drunk driving.

Hart had a slow career start, his first performance didn’t do quite well and he had to face mocking several times on stage, in fact, once a chicken piece was also thrown at him. 

Following he had many unsuccessful performances, he decided to enter into a comedy contest, and eventually, audiences realized that his performances have improved. 

During his initial times, he used to mimic comedians like Chris Tucker, but over time he figured out his unique comedic style with his own experiences and insecurities. He himself said “Because of what I do, it has to be an open book,” adding “But right now this is a book that is being written.”

His career took off with his 2009 act titled I’m a Grown Little Man, after which he also acted in 2010 Seriously Funny. In 2011 he acted in a comedy documentary film, Laugh at My Pain, and in 2013 Let Me Explain. Through his performance in Laugh at My Pain, Hart earned more than $15 million and the film became one of the top-selling comedy tours of the year.
