Vienna Blood is a psychological thriller television series written by Stephen Thompson and inspired by the Liebermann novels written by Frank Tallis.
The first season of the series premiered on November 18, 2019, on BBC Two and concluded on December 2, 2019, with a total of 3 episodes on July 6, 2020, the series was renewed for its second season which premiered on December 10, 2021, and ended on December 24, 2021, with the same number of episodes. The series was loved by viewers as well as critics and has an IMDB rating of 7.5 out of 10.

Vienna Blood Season 3 Release Date
On February 22, 2022, an announcement was made about the renewal of the series for another season. If the series follows the release pattern like previous seasons, then the show will come out within a period of six to seven months.
So, accordingly, we can expect the series to premiere by the fourth quarter of this year. But since these are only speculation we will have to wait for an official announcement and hope to get it soon.
Vienna Blood Season 3 Cast
We can expect characters to return from the previous seasons in order to reprise their roles and below are the names:
- Matthew Beard to portray the character of Max Liebermann
- Jürgen Maurer to portray the character of Oskar Reinhardt
- Jessica De Gouw to portray the character of Amelia Lydgate
- Luise von Finckh portrays the character of Clara
- Conleth Hill to portray the character of Mendel Liebermann
- Amelia Bullmore to portray the character of Rachel Liebermann
We can also see some supporting casts to return from earlier season like Charlene McKenna, Oliver Stokowski, Raphael von Bargen, Simon Hatzl, Josef Ellers, Harald Windisch, Luis Aue, Ulrich Noethen, Michael Niavarani, Ursula Strauss, Johannes Krisch and Kathrin Beck.
Robert Dornhelm who served as the leading director in both the previous seasons is set to return once again to direct the third season of Vienna Blood.
Furthermore, there can be certain additions in the cast as well.
Vienna Blood Season 3 Plot
The period drama thriller series is set in the 1900s in Vienna, Austria. Before getting into the expected plot of the upcoming season let us take a dig into the previous events that took place in the show.
In the first season, the series follows Inspector Oskar Rheinhardt’s story who is a member of the Vienna Police Department. He urges Dr. Max Liebermann to help in resolving a murder mystery.
When under some suspicious situations, a medium is spotted dead, the police again get back to Dr. Lieberman for help in reaching her murderer. In the last episode of the first season, Max (played by Umut Dag) and Oskar (portrayed by Stephen Thompson), who is the writer’s nephew, presume foul play following when a fellow student sinks at a military college, but his uncle thinks that an obsessed crazy man is responsible for this.
At the end of the second season, we saw Oskar thinks that he has shifted Lazar Kiss in Vienna, but when he and Max go to check the theatre where the murder happened, they were unable to get anything. Oskar finds nails in a wineglass and also a hollow, hollow-echoing floorboard that he scales down in order to expose two handguns.
Most likely, the third season will continue where the second left us and answer all the questions that were left answered in the last season.

Since the renewal was confirmed on February 22 only, it will obviously take some time as the series’ filming is yet to be started. We can expect a trailer either by the end of the third quarter or early third quarter of this year.
