‘criminal Minds’ Star Joe Mantegna Confirmed With a Tweet the Show Is Coming Back

Those who loved to watch Criminal Minds have been waiting for the renewal of the television series after the premiere of the fifteenth season of the show. To date, the series already has a total of 324 episodes.

In recent times, most of the fans have been waiting for a response from actor Joe Mantegna with the hope of getting some updates on the series’ renewal. Mantegna portrayed the character of Senior Supervisory Special Agent David Rossi in the series.

From 2005 to 2020, the crime drama by CBS revolved around a group of criminal profilers who serve for the FBI being members of its Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) with the help of behavioral analysis and the profile in order to assist in investigating crimes and catch the accused known as the unsub (unknown subject).

In season one, the show begins with 6 key cast members. The series gathered lots of love and positive reviews for its storylines, casting, and everything else. This doesn’t come as a surprise that the loyal fandom of the series still wants the sixteenth season despite knowing that the series has been running for a very long period of time.

The fifteenth season was announced as the final season and premiered on January 8, 2020 with its last episode dropping on February 19, 2020. The fans were already sad after they learned that this would be the last and became even more dissatisfied with the short season 15 that had just ten episodes.

The revival of the series was expected when an announcement was made by Paramount plus in February 2021, that a revival of the series is under development and will have ten episodes. Following that, recently there were rumors spreading that there might be no revival but Joe gave his back behind it even without uttering a single word.

Scripted Series of Paramount plus confirmed that the series’ revival was “still very much in development” and there would be “more to share soon on that, but it is alive and well.”

On February 2, the following day, Joe took to Twitter to share a link of an E! News story with regard to the recent development, and this lighted up the fans of the series and filled them with excitement.

One of the fans wrote “SOOO Mr. Mantegna-Rossi …. is that a for sure ‘YES’ it’s coming back WITH most of the same cast members?!? That part is still shrouded in mystery… But YOU yourself posted it, sooo….🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻,” whereas another one added “JOE DON’T PLAY WITH [OUR] FEELINGS AND SAY SOMETHING,” another added. “JOE?? 👀👀👀👀.”

Who Can Join the Cast of the Upcoming Revival of the Series?

Although nothing has been revealed by him to his Twitter followers regarding the events taking place behind the scenes. On February 4, it was reported Deadline that 6 actors are supposed to return to the series to reprise their roles, along with Joe, Paget Brewster, A.J. Cook, Aisha Tyler, Kirsten Vangsness, and Adam Rodriguez.

In November, “general agreements” have been reached by the returning cast members and now, negotiations are awaited between the actors and the executive producer and showrunner of the series, Erica Messer, according to the outlet. Once this gets finalized, the probability is that the cast will move further with their discussions about several years’ contract.

Coming to the matter about who can be expected to return from the previous seasons, the series’ fans must not keep too many expectations to see actors Matthew Gray Gubler and Daniel Henney, who portrayed the character of Spencer Reid and Matt Simmons respectively.

Earlier, Matthew has confirmed that he was all set to take an exit from Criminal Minds, whereas Daniel is currently involved in shooting for the epic fantasy series “The Wheel of Time” by Amazon Prime Video. The return of the rest of the previous cast members has also not been hinted till now so we will have to wait until official confirmation either from the stars or makers.

Not much has been shared yet about the upcoming revival of the series but we hope to get an update soon. Stay tuned with us to keep yourself updated with all the latest information.
