When Will Star Trek 4 Be Released?

Will Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, and the other Star Trek cast come back to the USS Enterprise soon? According to J.J. Abrams, who was the director of the 2009 reboot and the sequel in 2013, the original cast will return for a fourth film that will be shot by the end of the year.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly. Abrams, 55 said that the crew is working hard on the movie which will include both the original cast and some new entrants which is going to be fun and exciting and take Star Trek into heights we have never seen before.

He added that they are thrilled about this film and they have got a lot of other stories which they are discussing and think that they could be really interesting. Abrams concluded with the famous line from the series: “Until then, live long and prosper.”

Star Trek 4 will be directed by WandaVision’s Matt Shakman after the first two movies were directed by Abrams and the third, Star Trek Beyond, directed by Justin Lin. EW reports that the studio has yet to start dealings with Pine, Quinto, Saldana, or many other previous cast members, including John Cho, Simon Pegg, and Karl Urban.

According to EW, a rough draft of the script for Star Trek 4 was written by Lindsey Beer and Geneva Robertson-Dworet, famous for their work on Sierra Burgess Is a Loser and Captain Marvel respectively.

The screenplay director will be Avatar 2’s Josh Friedman and WandaVision’s Cameron Squires, based on Beer and Robertson-Dworet.

Fargo series maker Noah Hawley was formerly announced as director for the fourth installment in the improved franchise in November 2019. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Pine, Quinto, and Saldana were hoping to make a comeback for their roles of Jim Kirk, Spock, and Nyota Uhura respectively.

Quentin Tarantino had shown interest in writing and directing his own take on Star Trek, he previously showed his idea to Paramount, but his friend and Star Trek writer Pegg joked that Tarantino’s edition wouldn’t be “Pulp Fiction in space” in an interview in 2018.

In December 2019, Tarantino said he was not under pressure anymore to make a Star Trek project his 10th and final movie, saying to Consequence and Sound that he is steering away from it.
