Ray Stevenson is transitioning from ocean to space travel. Most recently featured on the History Channel’s Vikings, the actor has joined Ahsoka, the next Star Wars live-action series from Lucasfilm and Disney+.
The series centered on fan-favorite Ahsoka Tano, a Jedi Knight survivor who made her live-action debut in The Mandalorian’s second season and appeared in The Book of Boba Fett.
The plot specifics are being withheld, but the setup has included Tano traveling to the furthest reaches of the galaxy in quest of Grand Admiral Thrawn, a former Imperial leader.
Rosario Dawson stars as the title heroine, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Ivanna Sakhno of Ukraine, and Natasha Liu Bordizzo of Australia. Hayden Christensen will portray his role as Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
Although it is unknown who Stevenson will portray, rumors indicate that he will play a villain in the series and portray an admiral. However, not Thrawn.
Ahsoka is scheduled to begin filming in Los Angeles in late April. Stevenson’s return to the galaxy far, far away follows his voice work on Star Wars Rebels and The Clone Wars.
The actor is most recognized as Volstagg in Marvel’s Thor films and Blackbeard in Starz’s pirate series Black Sails. Gersh and Independent Talent Group represent him.
