Rodney Ricch intends to give the money he earned from his appearance at the Astroworld Festival to the relatives of those who died in the massive crowd surge at the Houston music festival on Friday.
Rich performed at Astroworld on Friday before Travis Scott’s gig, which turned into a horrific, violent affair that killed eight people and injured several others.
He wrote in an Instagram story that the family members who suffered losses should contact the concerned member of the rapper’s management team to be compensated.
In a video posted by Travis Scott, he expressed his devastation following the incident. Additionally, he said his prayers go out to all the families and people affected by the events at Astroworld Festival.
Scott added that he supports the Houston Police Department in its investigation of the tragic loss of life. As part of his commitment to the Houston community, Scott said he would work together to “heal and support the families in need.”

Sam Pena, Houston Fire Department Chief, acknowledged the deaths at a media briefing late Friday, explaining that 17 people were initially rushed to hospitals following the “chaotic event,” 11 of them in cardiogenic shock. About 50,000 people attended the event at Houston’s NRG Park, where a field hospital was set up to treat 300 attendees.
At approximately 9 or 9:15 p.m., the crowd began to compress towards the front of the stage, resulting in a few injuries.
In addition to falling out and becoming unconscious, Pena further explained that people became panicked. It was dangerous.
During a press briefing, Larry Satterwhite, executive assistant chief of Houston Police, stated that the commotion at the performance “appeared all at once.”
According to Satterwhite, suddenly, many people were on the ground, suffering from some “cardiac arrest or medical episode.” They quickly began doing CPR and moving people.

At that point, Satterwhite engaged the promoters and LiveNation, and they consented to close the show early “for the benefit of the public.”
