Travis Scott and the organizers of the Astroworld Festival, Grammy-winning rapper Drake have also been sued over the deadly incident at Scott’s concert on Friday.
Travis Scott, whose real name is Jacques Bermon Webster, and Drake, whose real name is Aubrey Drake Graham, were named in a lawsuit filed by Texas attorney Thomas J. Henry on Sunday. Live Nation and NRG Stadium were also named in the suit. As reported by TMZ, this is Scott’s second lawsuit against Live Nation.
During the concert in Austin, Texas, 23-year-old Kristian Paredes filed a lawsuit against Scott and Drake for “inciting the crowd” and creating mayhem that left him severely injured.
Paredes accused Live Nation Entertainment Inc. and Harris County Sports and Convention Corporation of negligence, as well as the two rappers who performed at the Astroworld Festival.
Paredes believes Drake helped incite the crowd when he came on stage alongside Travis Scott.
The rappers allegedly injured Paredes, and he filed a lawsuit seeking more than one million dollars in damages.
When Drake appeared on stage at the Astroworld Festival, the crowd surged forward, killing several people.
Why Travis Scott Drake sued over Astroworld concert incident?
According to court documents obtained by People magazine, Manuel Souza, who attended the concert, filed a lawsuit against Scott, ScoreMore, and Live Nation, claiming they were grossly negligent, causing the “predictable and preventable tragedy” that left him injured.
Souza alleged that instead of planning and ensuring the concert was safe, the organizers focused on profit instead.
In that petition, Souza alleged concert organizers consciously ignored the extreme risks of harm to concertgoers, in some cases actively encouraging and fomenting dangerous behavior. Lawyer Steve Kherkher of Kherkher Garcia LLP in Houston represents Souza, seeking at least USD 1 million in damages.
There were 50,000 concertgoers in attendance on Friday when a crush of people stormed NRG Stadium’s stage, killing eight people and injuring eight others. They ranged in age from 14 to 27. In an accident, more than 25 people to local hospitals.
On Saturday morning, Scott released a statement offering his cooperation to the Houston Police Department regarding the incident. “I am deeply saddened by what happened last night at the Astroworld Festival. I extend my deepest condolences to all the affected families and friends,” he wrote on Twitter.

He subsequently shared about the evening on his Instagram Story, saying he was working to identify the families in need of assistance. He added, “I always want to leave my fans with a positive experience.”
Kim Kardashian, Scott’s partner, apologized on an Instagram live story that she and Travis are “broken” and “devastated.” She continued, writing, “We didn’t know anything had been fatal until after the show was broadcast and would never have continued filming.”
In many of the reports about the concert incident, it was noted how Scott failed to stop the show when people started getting injured.
